Obtaining great Rams Tickets has always proven to be a very difficult process, with many people settling for sub-par seating far away from the action - hardly worth even going to the game! We know you want to get down close and support the Rams, and the tickets are out there, you just have to know where to look...
2007-08 St. Louis Rams
OK. Yes, the St. Louis defense is in heaps of trouble after giving up the fifth most points in the league last season, and ending at a dismal 31st NFL ranking. In '07, they are taking proactive moves to sort out their problems. This puts a lot of pressure on first round pick Adam Carriker. Brian Leaonard is new, and looked decent in the preaseason - definitely a good fill-in for Steven Jackson when needed. Another positive is the Rams' offence, which has remained strong. The Rams are making the NFC West exciting, and the steps they have taken towards improvement are defnitely making the Niners and Seahawks a bit nervous.
Previous Seasons
The 2005-2006 St. Louis Rams ended their season with the firing of the head coach Mike Martz. While Martz missed the majority of the season with heart problems, the Rams struggled to a losing record, and fans are grateful to finally close the team’s worst season in the last seven years. After his twelfth season, running back Marshall Faulk saw limited action and appears to be contemplating retirement. However, second-year running back Steven Jackson’s 1,000-yard season leaves Rams’ ticket holders hopeful that the team’s offense can grow stronger before next year.
The Rams have only played in St. Louis since 1995. Before their move to the Midwest, the franchise competed in Los Angeles where they were crowned NFL Champions in 1951 and later lost Super Bowl XIV to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Rams made 14 appearances in the playoffs between 1970 and 1990, first coached by Chuck Knox and later by John Robinson. Under Knox, the Rams earned the respect of the rest of the league due to their daunting defense, and Robinson’s years included running back Eric Dickerson’s ability to provide the necessary offensive spark for the team in southern California. Although Dickerson played for four NFL teams, his most successful years were with the Rams including his 1984 record setting season of 2,105 rushing yards.
When the franchise was not granted a new stadium in California, the team relocated to St. Louis where they finished four consecutive seasons with losing records. However, head coach Dick Vermeil eventually led the team to great success from the most unexpected player on the team’s roster. Fans at the Edward-Jones Dome witnessed an incredible offensive attack from 1999 to 2001 that featured unknown third-string quarterback Kurt Warner. Warner’s 1999 season catapulted him into NFL stardom and helped boost sales of Rams football tickets. After spending his previous season with an arena football team in Iowa, he earned both the league’s MVP award and MVP of the Super Bowl when he passed for over 400 yards in the team’s victory against the Tennessee Titans. The quarterback’s success continued through the 2001 season with one more Super Bowl appearance, but the Rams lost Super Bowl XXXVI to the New England Patriots. In addition to Warner’s passing, Faulk’s rushing made the Rams’ offense especially potent, and he was named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year in three straight seasons.
Although the Rams have made the playoffs twice since their last Super Bowl appearance, the excitement that existed during Warner’s years of excellence has waned. The team no longer has a prolific passer, and Pro Bowl wide receiver Torry Holt’s 1,300 yards of receiving provided one of the few shining statistics of the season. Now, the franchise will hope for some much needed help on the field during the NFL draft. With a new head coach and a productive off-season, Rams football tickets can return to the status that they held just a few years ago during the team’s Super Bowl runs.
